Japanese major(cuny nyc)?
I just did a quick search, there are no CUNY schools that have a Japanese major. However, Queens and Baruch Colleges offer a Japanese minor that can be paired with whatever subject you choose as your major. You should check with each college to find out how many credits you need for the minor and see if you can do in time to graduate in 4 years. Of course, you don't have to graduate in 4 years - many people take 5 or 6 years to graduate.
If you want to major in Japanese, I would look into NYU, Columbia, or St. John's. All offer Japanese as part of their Asian/East Asian Studies major.
Reply:Keep in mind a few things...
1.after you major in Japanese..then what? If you plan to get a job in Japan you might find the market very, very limited.
2.Usually JET chooses people who are very interested in Japan...but dont have lots of experience or know anything about the country. Also, after a year, you HAVE TO go back to your home country. A JETS life is easy, but you will find a heck of a lot more out if you do it on your own.
